Wherein E. D. Cope formally offers a resolution thanking Dr. Theophilus Turner for his donation of the remains of Elasmosaurus platyurus to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. Turner said that he considered this to be an "honor barren" in a letter to his brother after he received word of the motion.

Mr. Cope offered the following resolution which was adopted: Resolved, That the Academy of Natural Sciences present their thanks to Theophilus H. Turner, M. D., U. S. A., for his very valuable gift of the skeleton of the great extinct reptile, the Elasmosaurus platyurus from the neighborhood of Fort Wallace, Kansas. |
